Fertility Hub FAQs

Shaun Greenaway is a Male Fertility Coach and advocate.
When it comes to male infertility, Shaun has been there, got the t-shirt (and the scars too). Having been diagnosed with Azoospermia, he experienced the heartache, shame and secrecy attached to being a man with no sperm.
Shaun found himself navigating this trauma alone, with no support networks in place for men at the time - something that he became determined to change.
Now the proud father to twins conceived via the use of donor sperm, alongside his wife Jenna, Shaun began his mission to break the stigma of male infertility by sharing his story via Instagram (@Knackered_Knackers).
To further expand the help and support he could provide men going through fertility struggles, Shaun trained to become an accredited Transformational Coach, and he has helped many men navigate the struggles.
He and Ciaran also co-host The Male Fertility Podcast - a podcast help support and educate men going through any kind of fertility issue.

Ciaran Hannington is a Male Fertility PT and advocate.
In 2012, Ciaran’s life was turned upside down when a fertility consultant told him he was deemed infertile. This news shattered Ciaran, triggering a battle with his mental health as he faced isolation, grief, and feelings of inadequacy.
Repeated failed ICSI attempts and a heart breaking miscarriage only deepened his struggle. With his wife’s support, Ciaran focused on what he could control: his health. Using his background in Sport and Exercise Science he designed a health and fitness programme to optimise his health and give his sperm a much needed boost.
In 2016, his son Sebastian was born after a final ICSI attempt, and in 2020, Ciaran and his wife welcomed their daughter Enya into the world. Ciaran now supports other men facing infertility as The Male Fertility PT. Ciaran experienced first-hand that male infertility is more than a physical challenge, it’s an emotional one too, which men often faced in silence.
After launching The Male Fertility Podcast with his friend and co-host Shaun, together they founded The Male Fertility Hub, creating a platform to provide men and their partners with the support, resources and guidance needed to navigate fertility.
FAQs
Finding the right support can feel difficult, especially when fertility information rarely speaks directly to men. Here are clear answers about The Male Fertility Hub, our community, events and coaching. If your question is not answered here, please contact us. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
The Male Fertility Hub is a dedicated support community for men experiencing fertility challenges and the partners alongside them. Whether you are preparing for fertility tests, have received a male factor infertility diagnosis, are going through IVF or ICSI, considering donor conception, coping with unsuccessful treatment or deciding what comes next, you are welcome. You do not need a formal diagnosis or to be at a particular stage to join.
Male fertility is common but often overlooked. The UK’s Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority says sperm-related factors are involved in around half of heterosexual couples experiencing difficulty conceiving. The Hub was founded by Shaun Greenaway and Ciaran Hannington, drawing on their own fertility experiences. It provides the understanding, representation and practical support that men and their partners can struggle to find elsewhere.
We provide private community conversations, text chat, online support groups, in-person meet-ups, expert-led webinars, men’s panels, articles, podcasts and personal stories. There are opportunities for men, partners and couples to find support. You can ask questions, connect with others or simply access reliable information in your own time. Optional one-to-one fertility coaching is also available for people who want more personalised support.
Visit our community page and follow the simple steps to join online. The core Male Fertility Hub community is free, including community conversations, support groups, selected events and shared resources. Once you join, you can choose the groups and activities that feel relevant to you. Our personalised coaching services are optional paid extras, with prices explained clearly before you book.
No. You decide how much or how little you want to take part. You can read quietly, attend a group without speaking and choose which events or conversations you join. You can also participate anonymously if that feels more comfortable. You remain in control of the personal information you share, and members are expected to follow the Hub’s privacy, confidentiality and respectful-behaviour guidelines.
Male fertility coaching offers private, structured support with the emotional and practical challenges that can accompany fertility investigations and treatment. It can help you organise your thoughts, communicate more openly, prepare for difficult decisions and look after yourself and your relationships. Visit our coaching page to book an individual session or a longer programme online. Coaching is personalised support, but it does not replace medical treatment, counselling or psychotherapy.
No. We provide peer support, general fertility information and coaching, but we do not diagnose conditions, interpret individual test results or provide medical or emergency mental health care. For diagnosis or treatment advice, speak to your GP, fertility clinic or another qualified healthcare professional. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, contact the emergency or crisis service available where you live. If you are unsure what kind of support you need, you are still welcome to contact us. We will help you find the most appropriate place to start.
